We collaborate with TLN in order to offer eligible families out-of-network insurance coverage for lactation consultation.

If you are interested in becoming a new client at Lactation & Development Resources, the first step is to submit an Appointment Request Form.

We are not in-network with any insurance companies. By remaining out-of-network, we are able to offer a unique blend of lactation consultation, feeding therapy, and occupational therapy in a way that works best for both you and us. This allows for the highest quality of service as we are not limited in terms of which services we can offer and how much time we can spend with our patients.

A superbill will be provided, upon request, for out-of-network services. We provide a superbill listing the mother/lactating parent as the patient and using lactation codes since we find this increases the likelihood that insurance will reimburse some or all of the cost of these sessions. Some of our clients utilize Reimbursify’s services which are intended to make the process of submitting out-of-network superbills to insurance quick and easy.

You can request reimbursement for breastfeeding services under the Affordable Care Act. We will provide you with the documentation you need. The National Women’s Law Center also has great information for accessing breastfeeding benefits through insurance.

When crunching the numbers it becomes clear that high-quality lactation and infant feeding services generally pay for themselves relatively quickly (in cost savings):

• Producing breastmilk saves a family $300-$900 per month in formula costs.


• For families who are formula feeding, the decreased stress associated with feeding going better is well worth this cost of services.
