To become a new client at Lactation & Development Resources, the first step is to submit an appointment request form. Important notes: * For the first visit, a one-time admin fee still applies. * Our cancellation policy still applies for any appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice. * For home visits, an additional travel fee still applies. Out-of-network coverage A superbill for mother or baby will be provided for out of network services. If a superbill is provided for your baby, a pediatrician prescription for occupational therapy (OT) helps increase the likelihood that insurance will reimburse some or all of the cost of these sessions. Lactation & Development Resources offers a complimentary OT prescription form, which we can fax on behalf of our clients upon request. Alternatively, you can bring the prescription form to your next pediatrician appointment. Click here to download the OT prescription form. Some of our clients utilize Reimbursify’s services which are intended to make the process of submitting out of network superbills to insurance quick and easy. In network gap exception A network gap exception is a tool health insurance companies use to compensate for gaps in their network of contracted healthcare providers. When your health insurer grants you a network gap exception, also known as a clinical gap exception, it’s allowing you to get healthcare from an out-of-network provider while paying the lower in-network cost-sharing fees. Lactation Insurance Coverage You can request reimbursement for breastfeeding services under the Affordable Care Act. We will provide you with the documentation you need. The National Women’s Law Center also has a great toolkit for accessing breastfeeding benefits through insurance. What if my insurance company does not cover these services? When crunching the numbers it becomes clear that high quality lactation and infant feeding services generally pay for themselves relatively quickly (in cost savings). Producing breastmilk saves a family $200-$600 per month in formula costs. For families who are formula feeding, the peace of mind with feeding going better is well worth this cost of services.
